Vision and Values
Our Christian Values As a Church of England Voluntary Aided School, we have very close connections with St. John's Forton. We often visit the church for whole school services and for R.E. lessons. Father Godfrey and his team also visit the school for Collective Worship and to talk to the children.
Our Christian Values LOVE, COURAGE and RESPECT are at the centre of everything we do at St John's C of E Primary School. They help us to live out our Christian Vision of ‘life in all its fullness’. Each half term, we focus on a different Christian Value. This is done explicitly through our Collective Worship time, but also throughout our curriculum. Children have regular opportunities to reflect on each value and to develop an understanding of the Value in action. Each Friday, in our Celebration Collective Worship, we acknowledge children who have demonstrated these values.
Our Vision for St John’s promotes: Preparing the next generation to flourish and prosper in all aspects of life:
• Creative independent lifelong learners who achieve well and are prepared for the challenges of 21st Century living.
• Outstanding teaching to expand all young people’s capacity and appetite to learn.
• A collaborative learning culture that supports experimentation and personal responsibility.
Our Aims:
• To provide an education of the highest quality for each child. To have high expectations of excellence in all areas of learning whilst promoting the moral, cultural, spiritual and physical development of our children.
• To encourage our children to have enthusiastic and positive attitudes and to promote lifelong learning.
• To build a successful partnership with parents and carers and to promote empathy and tolerance within our community and the wider world.
• To safeguard and promote the welfare of each child.
Promoting Fundamental British Values In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.
