Frequently Asked Questions

These are some of the questions that we most frequently get asked:

What time does school start and finish?

School opens its gates to the playground for pupils at 8:20am.

The school day starts at 8:30amfor KS1 pupils and 8:40am for KS2 pupils.

Teachers will bring their class in at the start times listed.

The gates are closed at 8:45am.

Pupils arriving after the gates close at 8.45am must enter the school through the school office to register as late

The school day finishes at 3.00pm for KS1 pupils and 3.10pm for KS2 pupils.

What should I do if my child is too ill to come to school?

If your child is ill, it is the responsibility of you as a parent to inform the school . A telephone call to explain an absence is necessary; otherwise an unauthorised absence will be recorded.

Telephone 02392 582 404. You can leave a voicemail on our absence line at any time before school is due to start.

My child has had a stomach bug, when should they return to school?

If your child has had sickness or diarrhoea they should not attend school until they have been free of the illness for 48 hours.

Can the school give my child medication?

We will give prescribed medication if it is to be administered four times a day. Under these circumstances we would give your child their medication at lunchtime once you have completed an Administration of Medicines and Treatment Consent form. (These are available from the school office or by downloading a form below).

If your child has been prescribed medicine three times a day the PCC recommend that it is administered before and after school and just before bedtime. Please note we are unable to give non-prescribed medication.

The form for administering medicine can be collected and completed from the school office.

Is my child eligible for Free School Meals?

Hampshire County Council Catering Services (HC3S) has launched a new online service so parents can check their eligibility for free school meals themselves.  This self service option is available at: https://www.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/hants

Should my child come to school today?

The School Health website www.southernhealth.nhs.uk offers some very useful information on various health issues. There is more information on this under our attendance page.
