St John's Risk Assessment September 2021
Frequently asked questions:
What happens if my child has COVID symptoms?
- Please do not send your child to school, book a PCR test for your child and inform the school office.
- Other members of the household do not have to isolate.
What happens if my child’s PCR test is positive?
- Please inform the school office as soon as possible. Please also report this result to NHS 'Track and Trace' when you are contacted.
- The school will provide home learning for your child to complete and a laptop if required.
- The school will also provide a Free School Meal voucher for the school days within the 10 day isolation period.
- Your child will continue to isolate for 10 days from the day the symptoms first started. Please inform the school of the day your child should return to school (i.e. 11th day following the first day of symptoms).
- Individuals in the same household are not required to self-isolate if any of the following apply:
- The household member is fully vaccinated
- The household member is below the age of 18 years and 6 months
- The household member has taken part or are currently part of an approved COVID-19 vaccination trial
- The household member is not able to get vaccinated for medical reasons
- Instead of isolating, the above household members will be contacted by NHS 'Track and Trace' and will be informed they have been in close contact with a positive case and advised to take a PCR test. Therefore the other children under 18 years and six months in the household can attend school as normal and not have to self-isolate. Those adults fully vaccinated in the same household do not have to self-isolate.
What happens if I or another adult in the household develops symptoms?
- The adult with symptoms must isolate and book a PCR test.
- All other household members do not have to isolate.
- If a parent/carer is self-isolating with COVID-19, your child should have a PCR test as soon as possible and can still attend school if they do not have symptoms. If you are in this situation and are unable to transport your child to and from school because you are self-isolating, and you have not been able to identify a trusted friend or relative who could help, please let the school know so we can try to assist. Please note that if your child tests positive for COVID-19 they are required to self-isolate.
