2026 transition dates -

New Entrant Welcome Meeting

New Entrants meeting Wednesday 29th April 2pm or 5pm

This meeting will give you the opportunity to meet the St John’s team and learn about vital information      regarding your child’s start in school. 

This meeting is for parent’s only. Children do not attend this formal meeting.

On the meeting day please sign in at the main office.

Stay and Play’ in the Reception Classroom

Monday 1st June 2026

10-11am or 1.15—2.15pm

This session gives you and your child the opportunity to see the Early Years setting and meet the team.

Parents will sign up for a convenient time to visit this week at the New Entrant meeting.

Teacher’s visit to Pre-school setting - During June

This helps to inform class groups and ensure the children have time with St John’s teaching staff to support the transition process.

Classes and teachers allocated at the END of June.

You will receive a letter via email confirming your child’s class teacher

 

SCHOOL TRANSITION DAYS

 Monday 6th July 2026- Mrs Dickinson’s Class

 Tuesday 7th July 2026- Miss Hiseman’s Class

Parents and children are invited into school for a morning or afternoon session to share songs, play games and begin to settle into their new school environment.

Book bags and home visit information shared with families at this session.

Tuesday 8th September 2026 Half day visit and lunch Mrs Dickinson’s class 9.30am-1pm- school uniform

Wednesday 9th September 2026 Half day visit and lunch Miss Hiseman’s class 9.30am-1pm- school uniform

 

All children full time Thursday 10th September 2026

8.30am-3pm

Families will all be invited to a ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’ on Friday 11th September

 

 

 

Families are welcome to join us in the classroom and garden from 11.30am.

You may take your child home after the picnic or they are welcome to stay in school until 3pm.

Children can bring a teddy bear to school on this day.
